
Powl is Sabot 6's Vice President for Commercial Operations. Before assuming his current position, Powl served for 26 in the U.S. Army, and brings to Sabot 6's clients considerable expertise in several fields, including Homeland Defense and Homeland disaster response operations, counter-terrorism, Inter Agency Coordination, Information Operations and Strategic Communications, working with the Army and Air National Guard, and U. S. Army operations from the tactical to strategic levels. Powl possesses significant leadership skill giving him the ability to manage large, diverse teams in high stress environments to complete complex projects. He has conducted detailed planning and execution of numerous large and small-scale operations, including an extremely successful marketing ("strategic communications" in military vernacular) campaign in Iraq that delivered the first parliamentary elections in that nation's history. Powl is also an accomplished public speaker and a published author.
Powl retired from the U.S. Army as Chief of Operations for the Standing Joint Force Headquarters at U.S. Northern Command in Colorado. U.S. Northern Command is the Defense Department command responsible for Homeland Defense and supporting civil authorities during major disasters. Prior to U.S. Northern Command, Powl spent a year in Baghdad, Iraq, planning and executing strategic communications for the Multi-National Force Commander, General George Casey. He has also served as a Special Assistant to General Chuck Wald, Deputy Commander of U.S. European Command, as well as a Counter-Terrorism Division Chief in the Operations Directorate of U.S. European Command, as the Executive Officer (Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff) for 1st Armored Division Artillery, and in numerous U.S. Army Field Artillery Staff and Command positions, including being an instructor, group facilitator and a doctrine writer.
Powl is a graduate of the NATO Defense College, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, holds a Master of Arts from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy (West Point).
