Powl is Sabot 6's Vice President for Commercial Operations and Chief Operating Officer. Before assuming his current position, Powl served for 26 years in the U.S. Army, and brings to Sabot 6's clients considerable expertise in several fields, including Homeland Defense, Counter-terrorism, Interagency Coordination, Information Operations and Strategic Communications. Like most senior military leaders, Powl managed large, diverse teams in high stress environments to complete complex projects, and has conducted detailed planning and execution of numerous large and small-scale operations. Powl retired from the U.S. Army in 2008 at U.S. Northern Command in Colorado. Prior to U.S. Northern Command, Powl spent a year in Baghdad, Iraq, planning and executing strategic communications for the Multi-National Force Commander, General George Casey. He has also served as a Special Assistant to General Chuck Wald, Deputy Commander of U.S. European Command, as well as a Counter-Terrorism Division Chief in the Operations Directorate of U.S. European Command, as the Executive Officer (Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff) for 1st Armored Division Artillery, and in numerous U.S. Army Field Artillery Staff and Command positions.

Since coming to Sabot 6 in 2008, Powl has managed the commercial operations of Sabot 6's several energy and environmental programs and accounts. Notable among these efforts include creating and implementing the DoD entry strategy for the nationally renowned energy and environmentally-focused non-profit, Rocky Mountain Institute. In advising two Fortune 500 companies – one focused on Energy Conservation technologies and the other on Renewable Energy production and distribution – Sabot 6's efforts have lead to a doubling of sales of the Energy Conservation products to DoD, while enabling Renewable Energy production and distribution company to position itself to capture an entire DoD energy market segment within months of engaging Sabot 6.

Powl is a graduate of the NATO Defense College, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, holds a Master of Arts from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy (West Point).
